Static Control with RFID
Static electricity can easily be generated in several processes of manufacturing RFID labels on converting equipment. Discharge of static electricity through the transponder antenna into the RFID chip can cause permanent chip failure, loss or corruption of the stored data. From the lamination process to the final product at the end user, each step in the RFID label manufacturing process exposes the inlay to electrostatic charges and discharges that can cause the chip to fail.
Studies show that 4%-5% of RFID labels fail during the converting phase with electrostatic discharge being a key cause of failure. Patented Virtual AC™ Intelligent Static Neutralizers are especially well suited for neutralization of static charges during the converting phase of the RFID label manufacturing process, from unwinding or unstacking the facestock, to inlay application, and laminating liner to the label stock with the attached inlays. User benefits include:
• Systems with ten and more 8001 neutralizing bars connected to one power supply
• Modular design with all quick disconnects
• Long-range static neutralization without air assist
• Performance and diagnostics display
• Networking capabilities for full integration into the manufacturing process
